What's an Apostille ?

An Apostille is a certification that verifies the signature of a public official on a document for international use, particularly among countries that are part of the Hague Convention. The purpose of an Apostille is to authenticate:

  • the authenticity of the public official's signature,
  • the role of that official when signing the document, and
  • when relevant, the identity of any seal or stamp present, such as a notary public seal.
